Job Type: Full-Time Contract Assignment ( Contract duration of 2 months. )
Pay: $25-$27/hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist for a 2-month (approx. 60) assignment. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical diagnoses and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations, and facilitating the billing process for healthcare services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and medical records management.
The Medical Billing Coding Specialist is responsible for billing and analyzing procedures and modifiers to troubleshoot and resolve billing issues, rejections, denials, and appeals. The Specialist will work as part of a cross-functional team to ensure all services provided are billed in a timely and accurate manner and responsible for remaining up to date on billing guidelines.
Duties
- Review patient records to identify necessary information for billing and coding.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10 codes for diagnoses and procedures.
- Ensure accurate documentation of medical records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Process medical collections and follow up on outstanding claims.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations, including DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) systems.
- Utilize various medical office systems to manage billing processes effectively.
- Assist in training new staff on medical billing and coding practices as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 coding, DRG systems, and medical records management.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other relevant software applications.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- An active Billing and Coding Certificate (CPC, CCS, CMC, etc.)
- 5 years of billing experience and coding denial resolution
- Valid TX driver's license
Preferred
- 3 years experience billing and coding using an Electronic Medical Records system .
