We're hiring a Network Engineer to support the New York City Transportation Authority in building, maintaining, and securing a mission-critical network infrastructure. You'll work with a seasoned internal team on a high-impact public sector initiative focused on transportation systems that serve millions daily.
You should bring deep hands-on expertise in routing, switching, segmentation, and AAA protocols-plus a solid command of network security technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Design, configure, and maintain enterprise-level routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto)
Implement Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) systems including TACACS+
Develop and maintain secure, segmented, and isolated networks
Configure and troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, and static routing protocols
Deploy and monitor Network TAPs and packet capture solutions
Leverage security and monitoring tools to ensure uptime and protect infrastructure
Collaborate across technical teams to support secure data flows between OT and IT environments
Required Skills & Experience
Authentication Protocols: AAA, TACACS
Networking: Switching & Routing (Static, BGP, OSPF)
Security & Monitoring: Network segmentation, isolation, and monitoring tools
Equipment Configuration: Cisco, Juniper, and Palo Alto switches, routers, firewalls
Network Taps experience in traffic analysis and forensics
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience with network automation
Exposure to OT/ICS environments with IDS deployment
Familiarity with Cisco Secure Network Analytics (StealthWatch)
Certifications like CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE
Experience with Cisco ISE (Identity Services Engine)
Scripting knowledge in Python or other languages
