Job Description
PPS is seeking a Chemical Engineer for our state-of-the-art metals extrusion facility in Phoenix AZ. The Chemical Engineer will be tasked with providing chemical engineering and project management support for the locations paint, anodizing, and waste treatment lines. Responsibilities:
- Work with Plant Management, Supplier Partners, and the Corporate Technology Team to establish and monitor KPI’s, ensuring that safety, quality, and productivity are monitored, corrected, and improved as required.
- Assist in preventive maintenance functions in establishing priorities and initiatives to ensure equipment availability and reliability.
- Keep contacts and develop partnerships with leading suppliers in the industry to stay current with industry best practices.
- Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests in making qualitative and quantitative analysis of processes.
- Set up and conduct chemical experiments, tests, and analyze, using various chemical analysis techniques.
- Using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Design, develop, and optimize processes for chemical manufacturing, applying principles of chemistry, physics, mathematics, and engineering to develop systems and processes.
- Responsible for ensuring that processes and equipment are safe and comply with environmental regulations.
- Design, implement, and improve chemical processes, including those related to anodizing, painting, and other surface finishing techniques.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- BS degree in Chemical Engineering, or other relevant discipline from an accredited institution.
- Preferred experience with waste treatment, painting and anodizing of aluminum extrusions.
- Engineering experience in a manufacturing / plant environment preferred.
- Skills in project planning
- Strong understanding of chemistry, physics, and engineering principles.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Training in basic chemistry, titration, and solution process control.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge working with automated manufacturing systems.
- People oriented with an innate ability to establish a high degree of credibility with stakeholders and OEMs.
- Capable of leading projects in a fast-paced, customer focused, manufacturing environment.
- Experienced and trained in Lean and Six Sigma concepts.
